Congratulations to Hans ZIMMER !
His score for Frost/Nixon was nominated for “Best Original Score” at the Golden Globes Awards, a ceremony which will take place on January, the 11th. 2009.
Also Grammy Awards nominated his score for The Dark Knight (co-composed with James Newton Howard) and Ramin Djawadi‘s Iron Man in the category “Best Score Soundtrack Album For Motion Picture, Television Or Other Visual Media”.
i’m not talking about just the fans here. :)
How is he underrated? Hans was robbed for the Gladiator Oscar but otherwise I think he’s been treated pretty fairly. He is certainly at the pinnacle of the industry and most of us know it.
Hans is definitely an underrated composer just because he doesn’t like the typical Americanization of quality stuff into bullshit. That alone is a big reason why he’s so underrated in the States. But don’t worry Hans. The rest of us around the world still love your way of thinking.
If TDK isn’t nominated for an Oscar then the world is a cruel, evil place. I absolutely LOVE that score. In my opinion, it’s some of Hans (and James) best work to date. Love how they play off each other.
Hans is the best composer ever and the most underrated composer ever he deserves more than that
i hope Hans wins both awards this year. it was a busy year for the great musican/composer.
Well I don’t know.
I didn’t heard Nixon yet, only some samples which gives me an idea that the Golden Globe nomination he deserved.
But for the Dark Knight I feel there is too much some people put into it. I don’t consider TDK a great score (tough Zimmer is in my TOP 3 composers list) only a mediocre, with some great cues. But on the other hand the track Why So Serious? is in my opinion the best track composed in this year. Very unique and very interesting to listen when you want to make a headache for your family. :)
He HAS to win, his music is always amazing!
I believe they will win the Oscar for best Original Score this year as well, now that the Academy is bringing it back into contention.
I, too, await anxiously for the tour!
