i would say, williams wrote some of the most iconic themes in film history, but not the greatest. i think there are alot of composers, who have written great themes. zimmers Backdraft theme for example is the best firefighter theme in film history and its not worse than any other williams theme. or zimmers The Burning Bush theme from The Prince Of Egypt. and there are countless other examples also for others composers.
Film history – eh, it's debatable, I guess. I still think Williams has Zimmer beat for greatest themes, but I won't argue that Zimmer has done very, very well for himself there.
I am so INSANELY excited for this, having grown up on the Pirate scores. If anyone can write music on the level of Hans, it's Geoff. Hopefully there is a cue on the level of the William Tell Finale from Lone Ranger.
In regards to returning themes, I hope the "Marry Me" theme returns in some form (considering that Orlando Bloom is returning)

Game music history – yeah, no way.
I agree. Hans Zimmer has written, perhaps, the best themes in film and game music history.
People under-estimate just how good Hans is at coming up with catchy ideas. Arrangement is a very different skill.
Hopefully GZ delivers the goods!
But Keira Knightley'l isn't so it doesn't make sense to :(

Well, if Hybrid is excited for Geoff's score, i think is gonna be great, maybe more than Badelt/Zimmer previous score.
Whatever Geoff ends up doing for this, I hope it's better than the flat, generic trailer music version of He's a Pirate we are hearing here…
That's because is IS. It's just an arrangement of Drunken Sailor.
That lullaby sounded more like "What Shall We Do With The Drunken Sailor?"
