Bacause broccoli is much more healthy and vital… Jablonsky is one of the best scifi composer.
HOW CAN YOU REPLACE HORNER WITH JABLONSKY
Thanks like saying 'oh hey I've got ice cream'
'No thanks I'm eating this broccoli'
I am very sad
Yeah, For Greater Glory was a bit much. So was Troy (though you could excuse that one by saying he only had something like ten days to write it). But in Avatar I think it only came up a few times, and as you said not at all in The Amazing Spider-Man. But danger motif here or there, I don't really mind it that much so long as the music works on the whole. In other words, I much prefer a very good, derivative score that uses it (For Greater Glory) to a very bad, "original" score that doesn't (Apocalypto). You might say he doesn't give a damn – I say maybe he doesn't care about originality that much, but he does care about writing music that sounds great and is effective. And I think that's much more important.
Of course, a good score that doesn't use the danger theme (TASM) is a bonus. :)
Edmund: Just listen to "For Greater Glory". When I listened to it, I seriously felt like I'm being mocked by Horner. Danger theme over, and over, and over again, just like in Troy, Avatar, Enemy at the gates and dozens of other movies. I'm not saying that's all there is to James Horner, but I do say he probably just doesn't give a damn anymore when he composes a score. I can't think of only one of his recent scores, that didn't contain that theme – The Amazing Spider-Man. I think that one was quite good in general.
If you really think that's all there is to James Horner then I think you're a goddamn joke.
Everything is better than Horner's "danger theme" used over and over again. The man thinks making film music a goddamn joke.
Well, i enjoyed several works like Dotm or Gears of War 3, and also Transformers, Steamboy and The Island
Yeah, quite disappointing. Jablonsky is, for me, a severely hit and miss composer but hopefully he's still got a spark of that Steamboy talent left inside him for this project…
I big disappoiment to replace James Horner, but i'm intring about this Jablonsky's score
