BODY OF LIES
According to Marc Streitenfeld’s publicist, the composer of the score for the current no. 1 film at the US box office, American Gangster, is in Morocco preparing his music for the next Ridley Scott film, Body of Lies. The film is based on David Ignatius’ novel about a former journalist who is recruited by the CIA to track down a terrorist leader in Jordan. Russell Crowe, Leonardo DiCaprio and Carice van Houten will star in the film, which is produced by De Line Pictures and Scott Free Pictures, set to be distributed by Warner Bros.
This will be Streitenfeld’s third score for Ridley Scott, following A Good Year and American Gangster.

cant wait to hear the music :D
but i miss Hans Zimmer and ridley scott working together, they were a good team.
i also miss vangelis in ridleys work, wich did 1492 conquest of paradise, and blade runner, perfect.
I have to agree with Michael about the American gangster score, it seemed to me that in the key incidents during the film there was an absence of music, especially the moment when he shoots a man in public.
zimmer never said he was retiring. he said he was taking a year off (originally said to be 2008, now more likely late 2008 or early 2009) to do concerts and live performances of his music. zimmer is in his mid 50s, he’s not calling it quits this early. and by the way, zimmer has at least 5 scores scheduled after the release of the dark knight in early 2008. you’ve got frost/nixon and angels and demons for ron howard, kung fu panda and madagascar 2, and not to mention the spanish/mexican film he’s set to score.
after zimmer’s pullout on kingdom of heaven, i’m sure that didn’t sit that well with ridley. and i also think that ridley’s movies since then have not fit the mold of a zimmer score nor peeked zimmer’s interest. if we look at the scores zimmer has produced in the last few years, there has been practically no time for him to score a ridley movie, and this includes the next year at least. if they were to ever work together again, i don’t think you can expect anything till at the earliest late 2009 or in 2010.
Zimmer will retire after The Dark Knight. He stated in many interviews. Tough he will stay as music producer for young composers.
It’s to bad Scott doesn’t work with Zimmer anymore(or Gregson Williams)I wasn’t that impressed with the score for American Gangster. It was okay, but compared to the scores of other Scott films it’s kinda bland.
Ridley Scott usually works with Hans Zimmer but Scott is already having a relationship with Streitenfeld in his last few films.
What happened with the Scott-Zimmer relationship?
