Hans Zimmer : "Aurora" is dedicated to those who lost their lives and were affected by the tragedy in Aurora, Colorado. I recorded this song in London in the days following the tragedy as a heartfelt tribute to the victims and their families. 100% of the proceeds will be donated to Aurora Victim Relief organization.

Re: Music Permissions in Educational Setting

    Dear Sir:

I am a senior majoring in Dance, and am creating an original choreographic work for presentation in our Fall, 2017 Senior Project Concert.

I understand that you are the owner of the copyright for the musical composition Aurora and I would like to use the song in my work. I would like to use a section of the song as an accompaniment to a section of my choreographed work.

The Senior Project Concert will be performed at Montclair State University’s Studio Theater, a 100-seat house, in December 2017. The proceeds from all ticket sales to this event go directly towards the Dance Department’s budget for paying musicians to accompany dance classes throughout the school year. Neither myself nor any other participant in this concert receives any compensation for our work in the show.

Additionally, as a student choreographer I have an extremely limited budget for the creation and production of my work. I hope that you will allow me to use this music at no charge. If this is not possible, please let me know the fee required for this type of use.

Your signature below, under “confirmed by,” or electronic approval response will indicate that you agree to permit this use without payment of a fee. Please let me know if you have any questions concerning this license. Also, could you please let me know as soon as possible if this song cannot be licensed for this use, so that I may change my plans for my work accordingly. You can reach me at the contact information listed below.

I appreciate your help in this matter, and I look forward to hearing from you soon.

    Sincerely,

    Amy

Well, I was rather unhappy with TDKR score (even if I haven't listened yet to the suites and to the digital exclusive material), but THIS is impressive…And yes, it's another proof that, beyond the composer, Zimmer is a great man.
It does not change anything to the quality of the music, but still…Nice to know.
