“Opening Soldier” with Lisbeth Scott is suuuuuuuuch a beautiful cue, wow wow wow, what a masterpiece!

@Hybrid: How does it come, that Lisbeth was the singer here? Was she the vocal choice before Lisa?
First half of “After The War” sounds a bit like Eye for an Eye from TDK
Yes Lisbeth was the “demo” singer (like she was on The Peacemaker) before Lisa joined the project.

And an even bigger thank you for all the incredible effort you’ve put into bringing this project to life in such a complete form — with all the alternates, demos, and details for the fans. This is nothing short of a masterpiece release.
Honestly, I’m quite surprised that more people aren’t talking about it. It absolutely deserves all the recognition and praise.
Also, Stéphane — do you think there’s any chance we could see a LLL release of The Last Samurai? I remember reading back in the time that Hans went all the way to Japan, traveling through Asia to gather inspiration for the score. A release like this, with a Sketchbook of ideas and variations, would be incredibly exciting. Maybe even more so than Gladiator, because I’m sure Hans explored many different directions before settling on the final sound.

Yes, but that track is credited “by James Newton-Howard”… So I don’t… wha..?
Some parts of PotC 3 has “Am I not Merciful” vibes too…

That kind of rip-off/homage is really got me questioning –
Is this a case of composer intentionally (out of laziness or else)/unintentionally repeating his own work? Or every major director in Hollywood sees each other work and clearly tells composer to “do that cool thing from Gladiator! It was great, man”
An0n, I was watching the Rick Beato Hans Zimmer interview from a few months ago, and Zimmer’s reaction to others’ ripoffs of Journey to the Line was, “Hey, knock yourself out!” And yes, I suspect directors do ask their composers to copy the temp music. Sounding like another’s work is just a reality of the business sometimes.
Hans should probably do small movies more frequently…
Jerry’s gonna call anyway when Depp will be ready (or script, or who knows what …)
