I see people are talking about several references from the composer's other works in this one – even a theme from John Powell's score for Paycheck.

Do you think this movie was temped with those?

    100 % the Paycheck thing… lol

Quite disappointed with this score. Everything felt low energy and generic. The best parts are reusing the instrumental versions of the songs.

Aside for the sounds of PoP (not a problem, HGW uses the same sounds in every action movie), Mulan is a solid effort by him, great dramatic/ethnic stuff and homage to the original Jerry Goldsmith score (if you listen closely), and cool action moments, if the score isn't as good as Kingdom of Heaven or Sinbad, is truly recommend.

Macejko: I wouldn’t let that deter you. Although the PoP moments take you out of the experience a bit, the score is really quite lovely. Also, the “Prince of Persia” and “Raid On Alamut” cues are some of HGW’s best. :)

Even there is a nod to the original Jerry Goldsmith's score!

    But for 4th September.

    Hi there,

I was wondering, why can we not listen to samples yet? I would want to buy the album, but I want to know if it's any good so I would love to listen to samples first. Does anybody know where I can do that?

One of my most anticipated scores this year. Hope it can come close to Jerry Goldsmith's masterpiece.
