Denis Villeneuve is the director for Bond 26. Wondering if Zimmer will take on another 007 score.
It would be probably same as Fukunaga’s NTTD – good looking movie, but lacking any personality
It would be probably Mazzarro
Depends. NTTD was Mazzaro because Hans had no time (heh) to dedicate to it. The movie came at quite possibly the worst time as he had to drop out of Top Gun in order to oversee the production; essentially a lose-lose situation for both projects.
If Denis gives him time—and wants something creative from the score—I don’t really see why he’d give Bond away again like he did on NTTD.
Villeneuve is perfect for recreating Bond.
I really hope Zimmer is on board. He had some good ideas in NTTD but it was a last minute job. With Denis on the helm, Hans could hop in early and experiment creatively. Would be one of those big projects where Hans is unmatched.
I’d take another Bond score from Hans. Regardless of who wrote what, Hans or Mazzaro, NTTD was an excellent score, full of Zimmer trademarks. Hans was very enthusiastic in interviews and it shows in the music. And it’s not without precedent for one composer to be involved with multiple actors. John Barry scored the films from Connery to Dalton (four actors!), and David Arnold handled both Brosnan and Craig.
Villeneuve is better at smaller projects IMO…

No worries An0n, as for your previous message, I think he handled action very well in Dune Part Two. My only hope is he goes for a quicker editing rhythm for Bond to create that slick/cool Bond feel (which would also be reflected in the music being more propulsive than drone-y)
Im disappointed to learn today that he doesn’t have Final Cut privileges. Recent Bond movies suffer from a feeling of being made by committee rather than an artist (in my opinion). Let’s hope the next one doesn’t have the same fate.
Villeneuve didn’t had final cut privilege only for Blade Runner 2049 and Dune pt 1-2
And He looks pretty okay with someone else editing it, which is sign of “Hired gun” type job, rather than artsy movies that he did before BR2049…
