Watched On Stranger Tides again. The music actively destroys large sections of the film with completely the wrong tone. The whole London sequence from start to finish is awfully scored. How did this one end up so bad? At World’s End was amazing – so many great scenes and tracks. Only Blackbeard, Mermaids and the guitar stuff are good in this one.

“Is common public knowing, that Hans was asburdly constricted by Bruckheimer/Marshall in this movie”

I think He was constricted by Disney. This is their policy. Bruckheimer always gives RCP freedom

Bruckheimer, famous for saying woodwinds are shit and for fagots.
Creative freedom aren’t one of his strengths.

There are a ton of Bruckheimer productions with good-to-excellent Zimmer scores, so yeah, I’d blame this on Disney or someone else involved.

But fucking LOL at woodwinds being for faggots. One of the funniest and most idiotic things I’ve ever read.

MrZimmerFan, is there a stories about how Hans Zimmer hid all the woodwinds when Jerry visited the set?

Back in the day Jerry wasn’t some producer, he was THE PRODUCER, so I think he could do anything he wanted…

    • An0n September 4, 2024 at 2:16 pm - Reply

The 1-3 are iconic and you could listen them often… This one… I gave it a listen once. Best stuff are Rodrigo Y Gabriela tracks (unused, ironically), anything else is kinda flat… Or maybe not…

Hans have to fight Jerry to include woodwinds in the score, because that was mainly the reason for fired Silvestri in the first place, that and he wanted the score to sound like MV.

And for those who think Disney was to blame for Pirates 4, remember the score was heavily temp-tracking when Zimmer clearly wanted to create new material (more inspired to Pirates 3) for the score, aside for the main theme.

      MrZimmerFan, oh, old times
      😂

in modern ‘LGBT propaganda’ era Hans can easily keep those woodwinds without even asking anybody, haha

Does anyone actually have any sources for the woodwind quote?

    • An0n September 5, 2024 at 10:25 am - Reply

There were some crazy rumors about Don Simpson and his crazy parties, hundreds tons of c0c*ine he consumed and orgy stuff

I actually thought Jerry was the smart one
