Unadventurous, staid, playing to the 'modern' sound et al.

It's not terrible, it's got some nice textures, but it just doesn't do much for me. I know it's not a fair comparison, but listen to the dynamism, daring and lyricism of 'The Prince of Egypt' and then compare it to this. It's not that I expected another musical or animation score, far from! But this just, I dunno, just doesn't capture my imagination at all.

Listen to "In The Beginning" on this very site, it's the same kind of basic-melody-over-string-ostinato-build-up you hear nearly everywhere nowadays. It's like a weak version of Chevalier de Sangreal.

That doesn't mean it's bad music, as a standalone piece it's pleasant enough, it's got a nice solo performance, it just doesn't evoke god, or the bible, or faith or struggle. The feeling it evokes to me is closer to American triumphalism if anything, indeed I can imagine it set to the beginning of a Call of Duty game.

    Characterize "safe" in this instance.

Turns out it's not Balfe at all, but rather Fernando Velazquez! That's one of the most interesting composer choices I've seen in a long time. Can't wait to hear what it sounds like, his score for The Impossible a couple years ago was amazing.

    Hi Hybrid

Could you please tell me, are there any new tracks in the album, beside fisher of men. Are the tracks the exact same as the bible ost or are there any tracks with alternate versions etc.

No it's mainly stuff from the Bible OST…

I hope there'll be a clean complete score.
