Yeah this is a pretty fair assessment.

While I’ve found myself liking it less and less now that we’re hearing things like ME or Alita from Tom there are still some excellent tracks throughout.
(The Dark Tower, Collateral Damage, Guardian, It Will Fall, Roland of Eld)

My biggest gripe is with the purely sound design cues. They honestly go nowhere and end up padding the album out. What this score needed was a solid villain motif and some more orchestral underscore. It’s like one-half of the score is the more traditional side of Holkenborg whereas the rest falls into his early habit of just making noise.

Since JXL is a hot topic now, does anyone know what the chronological order for this score is?

  4. JBSO99 February 26, 2018 at 6:01 pm

Why he does not give up? He needs to enter in every page in the site and shit on every composer around here.

It looks like someone need to get a life…

The main theme (Roland of Eld) is awesome, yet the rest is painfully unremarkable.

The big problem with most of his album releases is that he tends to include some of the more atmospheric underscore which just doesn't make for a great listening experience. If you condense any JXL album down you can definitely get a better representation of his music.

29 tracks!! Even if on an average each track is 2 min long it's almost an hour 20 mins. Well, I'm not the one to complain about more music. Bring it on. Hopefully something good.

So excited to hear this! I think Tom mentioned in an interview that it will definitely be different than his current style. Not sure what to expect but I'm hopeful that we will get a good cross between western and fantasy.
